I am a writer and editor located in Portland, OR. I have a BA in Sociology and Cultural Anthropology and an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction. Both degrees are the result of my fascination with stories and story analysis.
I’ve always been passionate about genre fiction and have been reading sci-fi and fantasy my entire life. I read broadly and have built up a considerable knowledge base spanning contemporary sci-fi and fantasy, sub-genres such as the new weird and cyberpunk, and early influential genre works that have fallen to the wayside.
I discovered my love of working with other authors while getting my MFA. My goal as an editor is to take my knowledge of genre fiction and use it to help other authors write the best story they can. I take a collaborative approach to developmental editing, and try to help authors truly understand their story, where it fits into the larger literary landscape, and what they can do to best bring their vision to fruition while keeping marketability in mind.
